Tom Harkin - One of the Original Phony Solidiers
Wow…. I had completely forgotten about the made-up war record of United States Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA).

I guess Rush’s comment about Jesse Macbeth struck a little too close to home for Senator Harkin as he knows what it is like to be a Phony Soldier. Or maybe Harkin was just high on drugs when he took to the floor of the Senate yesterday….. or maybe he was high on drugs each time he flowered-up his resume when he was a Vietnam era vet (Harkin’s words).

Behind the Smear: MediaMatters Is a Sock Puppet for Hillary08>
According to Glenn Thrush of Newsday, Hillary “advised (David) Brock on creating” Media Matters in 2004, “encouraging the creation of a liberal equivalent of the Media Research Center, a conservative group that has aggravated Democrats for decades.” Thrush reports that Hillary still “chats with [Brock] occasionally and thinks he provides a valuable service . . .” “For her part,” Thrush adds, “Clinton’s extended family of contributors, consultants and friends has played a pivotal role in helping Media Matters grow from a $3.5 million start-up in 2004 to its current $8.5 million budget.”
David Brock has found himself another Sugar Daddy.

These phoney patriots. Ask any leftist…if given a vote to fund the military, would you vote them 0 dollars a year or $300 billion, how would every leftist vote? They don’t support the troops and never have. They want a dept of PEACE, and believe if we had no military, no other country would either. How utterly dumb.

Bruce, thanks for posting the Instapundit link; my readership has been irregular lately and I might not have seen it.
Instapundit has quite a few updates out there. They’re all worth perusing. Harkin’s giant problems in being truthful (about his own service) are “multiply sourced”, shall we say.

Mendacious, hateful individuals like Soros, Brock and the rest are at least partly self-refuting. I’d rather have them working for the far Left and thus against America. If ever they changed sides and made their corrupt efforts on behalf of America - then indeed would we be in danger.
Comment by ILoveCapitalism — October 2, 2007 @ 12:19 pm - October 2, 2007
I think there’s about as much chance of Soros, Brock, and MoveOn supporting America as there is of Fred Phelps holding a fundraiser for ACT-UP.

Sounds rather arrogant for Sorocrats to be imposing a partition of a foreign country against the will of that foreign country, but then again, in Washington, arrogance is the coin of the realm.

After all this time, it still astonishes me to no end how desperate or gullible the far left in this country would go to smear our men and women in uniform. It seems they to still operate as if they had a monopoly on American journalism. They should have known the credibility of anyone slandering our military would be called into question.
The far left was caught with its pants down and now they can’t stand the exposure of lies or distortions they’re getting in the media. No wonder the ratings for Fox News are going through the roof!!!

#9: Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! WTF?! This is how the Liberal mind works. Apparently while you still have troops on the ground, an evil dictator has been tried and hanged, millions of Iraqis have voted in free elections, and no terrorist attack has occurred on U.S. soil for over 5 years, the Liberals are righteously indignant and SCREAMING at all of us that we cannot win this war and that we have in fact, lost the war. Pull out now! It’s over! The Democrats are legislating our defeat even though over the weekend, 60 Al-Qaeda members were blown to hell (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298730,00.html).
So if the war is irrevocably LOST, LOST, LOST. How the fu*k do they have the obscene temerity to presume to vote in the Senate on this non-binding, condescending measure symbolically dividing Iraq up like a cheesecake?! Ummmm…..isn’t that a prerogative that is more typically exercised over a foreign nation BY ANOTHER NATION THAT HAS KICKED THEIR ASS AND WON THE WAR?! I’m sorry, but for me this is the absolute fuc*ing limit! What more proof do we need that Democrats don’t care about a thing except winning elections and enacting legislation to increase their power over our lives? There is simply no defense available to them any longer. How are they going to continue to insist that the U.S. has been defeated (past tense, because it’s AAAAAAALL over), but that we can just ignore their input and propose a segregation plan like they’re errant children? Is this their idea of “humiliating defeat?” Or is it possible….just maybe…..just thinkin’ aloud…..that they are all a bunch of filthy liars who exhibit no hesitation stating while the troops are in harm’s way that we have “lost” (even though we haven’t) just because they might get a few extra slimy votes out of it? Yeah, that sounds about right.
I encourage everyone to read the story linked by NDT, above. You just won’t believe it. The Democrats refuse to fight our enemies and now they are angering our allies by just disregarding their input and passing this arrogant, do-nothing measure. They have accomplished NOTHING since they took office (except following through on their campaign promises to hate George W. Bush as much as they possibly can and to communicate that hatred publicly to all Americans and our enemies on a daily basis.) Well done.

Well, they did have the support of over half the Repubs in the Senate as well. Indeed, noted liberal activist Sam Brownback co-sponsored the resolution.
Comment by Ian S — October 2, 2007 @ 4:03 pm - October 2, 2007
Next up on the Democrats’ legislative agenda: passing a censure condemning a private citizen radio host because they can’t stand that he tells the American public the truth about their real agenda. I hope they get to it–isn’t Rush due to re-up his contract soon? Since the Democrats even mentioning Limbaugh on the Senate floor gets him scores of new listeners, this censure thing might attract new listeners by the thousands. Maybe he can set another record beyond the $285 million his current contract is worth.
That reminds me–Ann Coulter’s new book comes out today. It will be #1 on the bestseller list without a doubt, but maybe while the Dems are censuring Rush they can pass one for Ann too. I’m sure she and her publisher would appreciate it. Knowing Ann, she would include the censure as an appendix in her next book so we could all enjoy a hearty laugh at just ONE of the many NON-BINDING, DO-NOTHING pieces of legislation they have passed in almost a year. Totally, fuc*ing useless.
Comment by Sean A — October 2, 2007 @ 4:15 pm - October 2, 2007
Ian,
Please give me a reference to something, anything that would confirm Brownback standing in front of 16,000 reporters 3-5 times a week telling the President, the public and our enemies that we have LOST THIS WAR. I suspect you can’t because Brownback isn’t willing to lie in order to ensure that people like you vote for him. Republican support of this measure is certainly a waste of time, but at least it’s consistent with the Republican position that we have not yet suffered an irrevocable defeat.

And now, one of the dimmer Sorocrat front-runners is suggesting the west can end the threat of nuclear terrorism … by getting rid of our own nuclear arsenal.
So, this dimwit Sorocrat is proposing we should invade a nuclear armed Islamic country, but not have any nukes of our own. How does that work? I bet the casualties from such an invasion would be even greater than the 10,000 people who died in that Kansas tornado (according to this same Sorocrat dimwit.)

Comment by HardHobbit — October 2, 2007 @ 6:15 pm - October 2, 2007
What a day. This just in (speaking of “political suicide”).
1. After declaring the war a failure, Biden spends the morning alienating our friends in Iraq by passing an arrogant resolution slicing the country into 3rds with no more legal affect than a spirited game of Risk. (STEEEEEEEEEEERIKE!)
2. Unrelenting supporter of our troops, Harry Reid, spends the day jousting with windmills in a pathetic attempt to smear a private citizen who has been in the business of championing the troops and American interests for over 20 years. (STEEEEEEEEEERIKE!)
3. And as if they hadn’t done enough today to demonstrate their contempt for American interests at home and abroad, we get the proposal below (the only type of measure a Liberal has EVER stayed late at the office for):
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/10/02/democrats.war.tax/index.html
Yup. A war surtax. This is obviously in response to all of the good news that just keeps coming from Iraq. The Dems figure that we are dangerously close to winning the war, so they are trying to get this one in under the wire while they can still pretend that its purpose is to pay for the war (because as we all know, for every dollar that was “stolen” for the military, there is a child that went hungry at recess, a senior citizen who had a meal of dog food and a child whose math textbook was taken away).
Here’s the sickest part from Dutchess Pelosi who says she’s not backing the proposal (why not?):
“In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, House speaker Nancy Pelosi blasted President Bush for not asking Americans to sacrifice and ‘adding hundreds of billions of dollars in debt for future generations to repay.’”
Keep in mind this woman is worth more than $50 million. And WE are not sacrificing enough. Once again, a rich, bit*h Liberal reveals their warped perspective–WE are supposed to sacrifice so that government never comes up short or has to go without. Ummmm, actually, Our-Lady-Of-Perpetual-Surprise, you’ve got that backwards.
(STEEEEEEEEEEERIKE!)

What is it with Democrats *actively wanting* Americans to suffer? I’ll never get that. (We also hear it from Hillary and her tax speeches, from resident shill Ian, etc.)
OK, what I came to say: The whole, staged, phony “Phony Soldier” story may be fizzling. Per NewsBusters, the MSM may be in the Democrats corner, but even they may be smart enough not to get behind a complete turkey of a story.
Comment by ILoveCapitalism — October 2, 2007 @ 7:44 pm - October 2, 2007
“What is it with Democrats *actively wanting* Americans to suffer?”
They are FINE with it as long as they get to keep their private jets and summer homes. On this same issue, we shouldn’t neglect the hag that wants to be the President (who could forget this one):
“Many of you are well enough off that [President Bush's] tax cuts may have helped you. We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to have to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” (Hillary to her fellow liberals in a speech in San Francisco; SFGate.com 6/28/2004.)
Yeah. These bit*hes are going to decide that ALL OF US are “well enough off” and just take as much as they believe the government “needs.” And we’ll just have to scrimp and save to get by. Liberalism is a sickness. Hillary and Pelosi are so used to spending everyone else’s money and having millions left over of their own, that statements like these don’t even set off any of their alarm bells. They’re too far gone to imagine that a sentence containing the words “common good” could ever be interpreted negatively. It’s the COMMON GOOD. Who could possibly be against the COMMON GOOD?! Meanwhile, they get to keep living their UNCOMMON lives, making no sacrifice at all.

I keep wondering why Biden thinks segregation is good for Iraq. I mean, aren’t they “clean and articulate” over there? They don’t have any 7-11’s (to my knowledge) so they don’t need an Indian accent.
Liberals are always whining about how Americans are still racist. Perhaps Biden is right and we just need to segregate the U.S. Sounds good?
As far as the “surtax”, why is it that whatever liberals want to do usually involves the whole country biting on a pillow and Astroglide?
Comment by ThatGayConservative — October 3, 2007 @ 5:59 am - October 3, 2007
I think segregating the US would end a lot of our own domestic conflicts. We could segregate the libs in two narrow bands on the east and west coasts (call them Kennedistan and Pacifica) and leave the rest of the country for sane people.
Comment by V the K — October 3, 2007 @ 8:59 am - October 3, 2007
I’m reading “Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed The World”, a book describing how the allies after WW1 partitioned both Europe and why that strategy failed. Many areas belonging to German were sliced off to become part of other countries such as Prussia, Denmark, Poland, and France. Within fifteen years, Hitler was able to use the partitioning scheme implemented by the Council of Ten as a unifying force in Germany, and to justify invading Poland and others in Europe. Instead of talking so much (he does love the sound of his own voice it seems), maybe Biden should study some history and discover why partitioning other peoples counties isn’t a good idea.
And yes Ian, to beat you to the inevitable punch, I know it’s not a good idea to invade another country and become an occupier either. Lots of lessons to be learned, or relearned, all around.
Comment by sonicfrog — October 3, 2007 @ 12:39 pm - October 3, 2007
Oops, should have read:
the allies after WW1 partitioned Europe and why that strategy failed…
The book also describes the partitioning of the Middle East, but I haven’t read that part yet so I took it out of the sentence, and forgot to edit the other stuff out.
