If not for entertaining the masses, would government have a purpose?
(Foot problems are a really common reason to be disqualified for the military. I’m not sure that “I have fallen arches” would have been any less funny.)

LOL.
More proof that the closet can destroy a man beyond the telling of it, including destroying politicians’ ability to lie without lying. The man is damaged, after years of hiding who he is, probably even from himself. Poor guy. My sympathy is tempered by his voting record, but nonetheless, I do feel sorry for him. Lifelong closeter is no place to be.

In the same interview, Wide Stance Craig claims he was a victim of ‘The Man.’
Quick, call Al Sharpton.

HA HA!!! Love it!
Just look at this guy. He has nasty old bar troll written all over him.

I am a naif in this whole world of undercover cops trying to entrap gays, so please excuse my innocence…….but……..
If a restroom is a pick-up zone and the players are making it uncomfortable for those who just want to pee and leave, I am in favor of either having a gays only restroom next to the hetero only restroom or spraying cold water on the heavy breathers in the gay/hetero combined restroom.
I give Larry Craig his full right to be gay, closeted, confused or constantly having to fight being mislabeled. I doubt that any of the former states is all that easy in a society that is overwhelmingly hetero.
Libs make me barf when they pull their typical double standard piety dance when dealing with the gay issue. If ever the ACLU and Chuck Schumer should have come to a person’s defense, it was when Senator Craig got busted in his wide stance in the stall episode.
Frankly, I am glad he is fighting the whole sorry mess. If he is gay, perhaps he has chosen a tough way for dealing with it. But it is his private right to make whatever choices he makes in that arena.
I will judge Craig when and if his sexual life and his effectiveness as an elected official intersect. Because his sexual identity is under attack does not mean in any way that his ability to represent Utah is diminished, except for the understandable strain on him caused by the gossip.
Now, if the voters want to deny him the office because of the issues surrounding his sexuality, that says more about the voters than it does about Craig.

“I have a medical discharge based on my feet.”
Perhaps they can be inspected and the discharge confirmed once they’ve been successfully dislodged from his throat.

What is wrong with Larry Craig´s feet? Are they flat or do they just move side ways when he sits?
Comment by Roberto — October 17, 2007 @ 12:11 pm - October 17, 2007
Well, Heliotrope, I’m glad we can remove one source of hypocrisy and double standards from your life then.
Um. The ACLU did.

Matt Lauer: “a guy who says you cruised him, whatever that means…”
LMAO. Oh please, Matt knows what that means. Every liberal metro in NYC does.
George Michael should come to Senator Craig’s defense.
Comment by BrianP — October 17, 2007 @ 1:14 pm - October 17, 2007
BrianP: Bastard, you stole my comment.
But really, if you read the arrest report, it becomes obvious that this was not just a simple case a foot accidentally tapping another once or twice; it could happen. No, this was freaking Morse Code – a tap dance for a minute of anonymous free lovin’. I know this has been discussed to death, but if Craig was innocent, why did he cut the deal in the first place?
Comment by sonicfrog — October 17, 2007 @ 2:46 pm - October 17, 2007
Wait, I have it, the perfect Craig defense: Whilst on the John, he was practicing his moves getting ready to perform a choreographed James Brown number for that nights Karaoke Kontest at the Hungry Hippo Lounge, and this was all just a matter of bad timing on his part.
Comment by sonicfrog — October 17, 2007 @ 2:51 pm - October 17, 2007
Gee, sonicfrog, if what you say is true we might see him on Dancing With The Stars.
Comment by Roberto — October 17, 2007 @ 4:06 pm - October 17, 2007
Okay I know this makes me a bad person but I thought the interview was hilarious.
And no, Matt, cruising in men’s rooms is not part of gay culture. It’s part of a subculture of self-loathing closet cases who don’t want to admit they are gay. It has nothing to do with me.
Comment by Houndentenor — October 17, 2007 @ 4:32 pm - October 17, 2007
#8 torrentprime: Thanks for the link on the ACLU. I am gratified to see that they saw fit to do the obvious. It is a rare (and becoming rarer) event in their rapidly declining concern for the apolitical claims of their mission statement. It is still notable that the Congressional democrats who consider gays one of their exclusive victim groups did not put party affiliation aside and come to Craig’s defense. Sorry I missed the ACLU point and grouped them with the actions of their homeboys.
Comment by Heliotrope — October 17, 2007 @ 7:22 pm - October 17, 2007
Generally, Bruce, I would appreciate what you have to say, but two things here, it’s every persons right to decide what about their private lives they wish to have out in the open (I keep my being a virgin under wraps) And further, ignoring that it’s just ironic, is there a particular reason you doubt him about his feet being a problem in the Guard? If you had served you would know that that is not far fetched.

I just think that Sen. Craig is part of the bigger problem of politcians who think that they are Gods. Forget the fact the Sen. Craig just keeps saying moronic things to allegedly defend himself. But it is the fact that when all else fails, claim victimhood status. I mean, Sen. Craig should just call in Al Sharpton! But, seriously, why doesn’t this nitwit just slither off the stage and try to overturn his plea as a private citizen? Because he thinks that the people of Idaho will not be the same if he is not there to save the day. PLEASE! This is another case for two things to happen. Term limits and making congress a part time insitution. If these people had to live six months a year under the legislation they impose on the rest of America, quite possibly nothing would be done. And that is just fine with me. Please Larry, just slither away. . .NOW!

Matt Lauer or Larry Craig…who’s the bigger closet case?
Comment by American Elephant — October 18, 2007 @ 9:07 am - October 18, 2007
AmeriEle asks: who’s the bigger closet case? Matt Lauer or Larry Craig.
Neither. It’s Anderson Cooper… who hides 360 degrees, 24×7.
Comment by Michigan-Matt — October 18, 2007 @ 12:26 pm - October 18, 2007
Surely you jest MM. I would hardly call Anderson Cooper, who has never to my knowledge denied being gay, closeted. That he dedicated his book to the man he lives with seems to suggest the opposite.
Comment by David — October 18, 2007 @ 3:08 pm - October 18, 2007
Anderson Cooper hiding he’s gay? I guess if you don’t dance on a gay pride parade float in leather shorts “360 degrees, 24×7″, then you are hiding.
How 1990’s.

He admitted it when? Last I saw, he still dodges the question.

That’s the impression I’ve gotten from the ass hats who believe it’s their duty to out everyone.

Dave, Tom, simple question for you… AndieCooper is probably one of the most visible news readers operating on cable today… he’s everywhere. But not a single, candid photograph of Andie and his gay lovers or friends anywhere to be found? Hmmmmmmmm; that seems queer, very queer indeed.
The son of GloriaVanderbilt can’t be really afraid of appearing a bit “abnormal”, now can he? Why GayLeft liberals want to cover for this guy and continue to deny his true innerself must be because they, too, are self-loathing and ashamed of their own true character. Yeah, that’s it.
If you think Andie is out and has no repsonsiblity to all those embattled young teens fighting terrible self-esteem issues in JesusLand, then you probably also think HillaryClinton is honest. Two fantasies ARE better than one.
